Job Summary

The Operations Manager at Matheson Windows and Doors is a hands-on leader responsible for managing the daily operations of both the warehouse and office. This role is based primarily on-site and ensures that the entire operation runs efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company goals.

From coordinating project logistics to supervising field and office teams, the Operations Manager plays a key role in maintaining a productive and professional working environment.

Working closely with senior leadership and department heads, the Operations Manager provides oversight across a wide range of operational activities, including project execution, inventory and materials management, labour coordination, customer service standards, and administrative workflows.

Responsibilities

· Oversee all daily operations of the warehouse, office, and field, ensuring productivity, safety, and efficiency across all functions.

· Work in conjunction with management to develop and implement marketing and advertising strategies.

· Manage budgeting, inventory control, expense tracking, and merchandising to support profitability and operational performance.

· Train, supervise and develop personnel to maintain a high-performing and accountable team.

· Maintain a high standard of customer service by addressing concerns promptly and ensuring service quality meets company expectations.

· Participate in and oversee fieldwork, including job scheduling, sales visits, and customer relationship building.

· Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols to minimize company liability.

· Operate the business in a financially sound manner to deliver an appropriate return on investment.

· Maintain and enhance Matheson’s reputation in the local community through professional conduct and strong relationships with civic leaders, customers, and partners.

· Supervise truck and equipment maintenance, routing systems, and related logistics – including hands-on inspection work when required.

· Manage branch merchandise and oversee inventory levels to ensure operational readiness and job efficiency.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, subcontractors, and partners.

· Support the material selection and cost negotiation process for building envelope components such as windows, doors, cladding, and siding.

· Attend sales calls, tender calls, training seminars, and industry events as required.

· Represent the company at networking and industry sessions with groups such as CANS, Atlantic Home Warranty, and other relevant organizations

· Collaborate with Trinity and its partners to identify and track leads, ensure timely follow-up, and optimize sales opportunities.

· Monitor public tender sites (e.g., CANS, Nova Scotia Tenders, and property management groups) for potential project opportunities.

· Source, negotiate, and oversee trades involved in building envelope installations, ensuring quality and adherence to scope.

· Work with Trinity to organize and deliver training programs focused on building envelope labour skills, including window/door installations, siding, and cladding.

· Assist in building and maintaining a comprehensive database of suppliers, materials, and labour resources to support operational efficiency.

· Collaborate on the development and implementation of internal software solutions to improve workflow, data tracking, and profitability.

· Verify estimator window and door measures as required until verification responsibilities are transitioned.

· Perform other related duties as assigned by management in support of operational goals.

Job Requirements

· 3–5 years of experience in operations, warehouse/logistics management, or a similar role.

· Proven leadership experience with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop a diverse team.

· Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Experience coordinating inventory, material handling, shipping/receiving, and warehouse processes.

· Solid understanding of safety standards, workplace compliance, and operational best practices.

· Comfortable working hands-on in both warehouse and field environments as needed.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers.

· Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational software (e.g., scheduling, inventory, or logistics tools).

· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits and supplier coordination.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform occasional physical tasks such as climbing, crouching, or equipment inspection.

· Experience in construction, building materials, or skilled trades (an asset but not required).

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
