The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Finance team for Trinity Energy Group and related entities, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, internal controls, reporting, and team leadership. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Manager acts as the primary point of contact for operational finance matters across the organization.

The Finance Manager is expected to lead and develop the Finance team, build internal capability, and help improve the quality, clarity, and accessibility of financial information and resources available to the organization’s stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

 

Core Operations & Leadership

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance team, ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Support workload planning, prioritization, and resource allocation within the Finance team, while also providing direction and fostering accountability, consistency, and promoting professional development.
  • Serve as the key finance contact for cross-functional team leads and various operational leaders, acting as the primary escalation point for operational finance matters.
  • Oversee payroll processing and related activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable laws & regulations, and compensation agreements.
  • Prepare and submit various regular statutory remittances and filings in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day cash flow of the organization.

Reporting, Analysis, and Costing

  • Lead the ongoing monitoring, forecasting, and management of organizational cash flow, including preparation of regular cash flow forecasts, variance analysis, and identification of liquidity risks.
  • Own and support the month-end and year-end close processes, including review of reconciliations, schedules, supporting documentation, and liaising with external accounting partners where required.
  • Prepare and review regular financial reports & KPIs for the Director of Finance, Senior Leadership, and key operational leaders, as well as ad-hoc reports and analysis exercises as needed.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.

Continuous Improvement & Other

  • Participate in internal reviews and audits to assess and strengthen internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of finance processes and systems.
  • Support finance-related projects and initiatives assigned by the Director of Finance.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the organization.

Job Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent; post-secondary education or accreditations in accounting, finance, or a related field are considered asset but not required.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and coordinating the work of others; experience within an accounting or finance function is an asset.
  • Experience with multi-entity organizations or portfolios is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the construction or trades industry is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate matters appropriately.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and professionally to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgement, strong critical thinking skills, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel; experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems is required.
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with Power Query, DAX, SQL, Python, or similar analytical programming tools or languages are considered assets.
