Position Summary
The Field Estimator is responsible for visiting residential and smaller commercial job sites to assess, measure, and prepare accurate estimates for building envelope projects including Insulation, Siding, Windows, Doors for both supply and instillation. This role ensures precise measurements, proper product selection, and clear communication with customers to support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct on-site visits to measure predetermined scopes for replacement or new installation
– Assess existing structures, framing conditions, and installation challenges
– Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and instillation methods (materials, styles, energy efficiency options)
– Prepare accurate estimates including materials, labor, and installation requirements
– Explain product options, pricing, and timelines to customers
– Ensure all measurements and specifications are correct to avoid installation issues
– Collaborate with sales, project managers, and installation teams
– Verify compliance with local building codes and energy efficiency standards
– Submit detailed work orders and documentation for production and installation
– Follow up with clients to answer questions and help close sales
Required Skills & Qualifications
– Experience in insulation, window and door work, siding, renovations, ductless heat pumps, carpentry, or construction
– Strong measuring and mathematical skills with high attention to detail
– Knowledge of the construction and building material industry
– Ability to read basic construction drawings or plans considered an asset
– Excellent communication and customer service skills
– Comfortable working in the field and interacting with homeowners
– Valid driver’s license
– Steel toed shoes or boots
– Relationship management
– Above average communication
