The Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment, and advising on tendering procedures. Duties include analyzing tenders, making recommendations, conducting negotiations, and establishing cost monitoring systems. The Estimator prepares regular cost statements and forecasts throughout a project and maintains a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. They also send estimates to customers and communicate with customers, and subcontractors. Additional responsibilities include tracking mileage, hours, documentation, and ensuring timely submission of information.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment.
- Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and conduct negotiations.
- Establish and maintain tendering process and set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Responsible for sending Estimates to customers.
- Liaise, consult and communicate with customers and subcontractors.
- Responsible for tracking mileage, hours, documentation, regular participation in online discussions, and ensure information is submitted in a timely manner.
Job Requirements:
- Certification for Estimators considered an asset.
- Commercial ductwork estimating would be considered an asset.
- Prior experience and knowledge of programs considered an asset.
- Trinity specific on-the-job training may be provided.
- Must have awareness of and experience with technologies such as laptops, iPads and cellphones. Forepersons use various programs and systems on a regular basis.
